Crane Moor Training is based in Verwood and was accredited by
City & Guilds in 2005 as a Centre supporting the professional
development of childcare practitioners.
We are proud to have been recognised by City & Guilds as a Centre of Excellence
every year since 2006.
All Crane Moor Tutors and Assessors are experienced childcare practitioners and
maintain their currency by regularly working in Early Years settings. Course Tutors
are qualified teachers, and all Assessors hold recognised teaching and/or assessing
qualifications.
Having previously assessed and tutored Early Years
and Teaching Assistant programmes for other colleges
and training providers, we appreciate how difficult it can
be for anyone caring for children to attend weekly classes
especially when you have your own family commitments to consider. Our schedule is as flexible as possible, with daytime and evening
sessions offered, supported by access to tutors via telephone, drop-in seminars and email.
At Crane Moor we hold regular workshops (courses are held in Verwood and in Bournemouth) to explore and discuss the main themes that
run through the mandatory core units of the awards. Learners use this knowledge to complete work-based tasks and assignments. The aim
of our training is to ensure Early Years practitioners are able to make links between childcare theory and their own practice in the
workplace.
Learners will develop a close relationship with their Assessor who will help them plan the best way to gather evidence to show full
competence in the workplace, meeting all the standards required to achieve the qualification. Assessors will undertake observations of the
learner at work, check learners’ progress with tasks and assignments, and question the learner to assess knowledge. Assessors will visit
each learner in the workplace at least once a month, to enable learners to achieve their award within 12-18 months.
The actual time taken to complete the full award will depend upon the learner’s motivation, the optional units chosen and any prior learning,
which is always taken into account.

We currently offer the following
qualifications:

Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce
Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce
Assessor award (A1)
